Students will dive into the SBI 4U course using the scenario of Maria’s Travels as a way for students to make self generated connections to curriculum ideas through inquiry using the 3-Pocket method. The 3-Pocket method is used to initiate learning, sustain learning and allow for reflections to occur of future unit topics. A mind map of possible unit connections is available in the catalyst. Possible later course activities include an inquiry-based pulse oximeter lab, a bioinformatics comparative amino acid sequence analysis, and a bioinformatics comparative nucleotide sequence analysis.
