This unit focuses on students’ approach to earth elements (sand, soil, rocks, minerals, and fossils) with various materials. Teachers can observe students with earth elements and manipulatives to scaffold their knowledge. Students will be able to explore earth elements; problem solve with different ‘environmental’ factors; and use various manipulative and recycled materials to explore the different earth elements.
