This article explores how to promote critical thinking in the classroom using the Question Formulation Technique (QFT) to foster self-advocacy skills. As an applicable technique for all subject disciplines and grades, this method is structured to stimulate divergent, convergent and metacognitive ways of thinking (Right Question Institute, 2020). Working collaboratively, students are able to confidently generate questions that draw on previous knowledge to explore potential solutions, while offering unique perspectives to the group.
