This is a classic demonstration that illustrates the power of atmospheric pressure. A small amount of water is heated in a pop can. The can is inverted and submerged in ice-cold water. As a result, the pressure of the gas inside the can is quickly reduced dramatically crushing the can by the pressure of the atmosphere.
