This resource discusses how to combine grade 7, Interactions in the Environment with grade 8, Water Systems.
The big idea for the inquiry was that human activities have the potential to alter the environment. The goal of the project was to have students investigate the impact that human activity has on our water systems while writing an effective explanation. Science, geography, language arts, indigenous education, and religion were integrated into the lesson. Students formulated their own research questions based on their interests in relation to the big idea.
Learning Strategies used were: use of technology (teacher and students), extended time, student choice, and effective questioning (teachers and students).
