The 2022 Ontario Elementary Science and Technology Curriculum resources, created by Ontario Certified Teachers in collaboration with STAO, OCTE, and ACSE, aim to support educators with the implementation of the revised 2022 Elementary Science Curriculum. Funded by the Ontario Ministry of Education, these resources include long-range plans, lesson plans, and webinars.

Long Range Plans:

Year-long activities are outlined for each grade, offering two models to help teachers design learning experiences tailored to student needs. These are living documents, adaptable as educators gain insights into their students’ strengths and interests.

  • Primary (Grades 1-3): Includes adaptable plans for exploring topics like animal shelters and seasonal adaptations.
  • Junior (Grades 4-6): Covers areas like pollinators, sound, and energy conservation.
  • Intermediate (Grades 7-8): Focuses on environmental impact, sustainable development, and water-related issues.

Curriculum Resources:

Designed to align with the revised curriculum, these resources provide lessons covering 1-3 class periods. They include learning goals, success criteria, and assessment opportunities with a focus on equity, diversity, and inclusivity. Strand A emphasizes foundational STEM skills, while Strands B-E integrate real-world applications.

Coding Resources:

A special guide on teaching computational thinking and coding is available, along with downloadable resources.

Webinars:

Recorded professional development webinars are available for primary, junior, and intermediate grades to help teachers build confidence in teaching the updated curriculum, incorporating cross-curricular instruction and culturally responsive pedagogy.

This suite of resources empowers educators to deliver engaging, inclusive, and comprehensive science and technology lessons across all elementary grades.
