A water beetle species, Regimbartia attenuata, can survive being eaten by a frog by traversing the frog’s digestive tract and emerging alive from the other end. This remarkable escape behavior was documented by Shinji Sugiura, an ecologist at Kobe University. Over 90% of the beetles survived this journey, with one beetle completing it in just six minutes. The beetle’s sturdy exoskeleton and ability to breathe underwater likely aid in its survival. This is the first documented case of prey actively escaping through a predator’s digestive system.
