Tennessee Students Build Robotic Hand For New Classmate

Fifteen-year-old Sergio Peralta, who started at a new school in Tennessee, was nervous about hiding his underdeveloped hand. However, a teacher discovered his secret and assigned the engineering class to build him a prosthetic hand. The students spent four weeks designing, 3D printing, and fitting the hand, ultimately transforming Sergio’s life. The project not only provided Sergio with a functional hand, allowing him to play catch for the first time, but also fostered friendships and showcased the students’ creativity and problem-solving skills. Sergio expressed his gratitude, saying the new hand changed his life.
