A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket launch from Kennedy Space Center created a visual phenomenon known as a “space jellyfish” on Friday morning. This effect occurs when a rocket’s plume of gases is illuminated by the sun’s rays during dawn or dusk, creating an ethereal, jellyfish-like appearance in the sky. The spectacle varied depending on the viewer’s location, with some seeing a horizontal silver streak and others a luminous cloud. This phenomenon is purely visual, but actual jellyfish have also been sent to space by NASA to study their reactions to microgravity.
