EXPLORE YOUR ENVIRONMENT: K-8 ACTIVITY GUIDE
Project Learning Tree Canada’s new flagship curriculum, Explore Your Environment: K-8 Activity Guide, provides 50 hands-on, multidisciplinary activities to connect children to nature and increase young people’s awareness and knowledge about their environment. This supplementary curriculum is designed to develop students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Activities are organized by grade band (K-2, 3-5, and 6-8) and align with curriculum frameworks, including CMEC’s Global Competencies and UN Sustainable Development Goals. They include step-by-step instructions, alignment with curriculum frameworks, including CMEC’s Global Competencies and UN Sustainable Development Goals, time and material requirements, and corresponding student worksheets with green career connections.

PLT Canada offers many supporting resources to support educators in using and getting the most out of this new guide. A comprehensive, free online resource hub found at plt.org/myk8guide includes downloadable student pages, assessment rubrics, an online glossary, recommended reading, suggested Units of Instruction, and many more tips and resources.
