The Niagara region in Canada has declared a state of emergency in anticipation of a rare total solar eclipse on April 8. This proactive measure, announced by Regional Chair Jim Bradley, aims to ensure the safety of residents and visitors and protect critical infrastructure. The eclipse is expected to draw massive crowds to the area, particularly around the famous Niagara Falls. Mayor Jim Diodati predicts that up to a million people may visit, significantly more than the usual annual 14 million visitors. To manage the influx, the region will modify some programs, services, and close certain facilities to reduce road traffic on the day of the eclipse.
