Livestream Event: Traditional Indigenous Mathematics at the Science Centre!

Livestream Event at the Ontario Science Centre – submitted by Amy Gorecki

What is traditional Indigenous mathematics? Find out from firekeeper, grass dancer, fisherman and Ojibwe language teacher Bryan Bellefeuille, a father of three and Anishinaabe of Nipissing First Nation. Join us with your students on September 22 at 2 p.m. and explore the many uses of math in traditional settings—from making tools and measuring trees to building canoes and cooking meals. Plus, take a digital walk with Bryan and tour a pine grove to understand the importance of land-based learning.

Event runs approximately 30 to 45 minutes. Can’t tune in live? You’ll be able to watch a recording of this (and other past virtual events) on our website.
