Let’s Talk Science / Parlons Sciences – Keynote Speaker / Conférencier Principal: Bonnie Schmidt

STAO is thrilled to have Dr. Bonnie Schmidt, President and Founder of Let’s Talk Science, as the Keynote Speaker for the upcoming STAO Ignites Conference on November 13, 2024. Dr. Schmidt has been a transformative figure in Canadian science education, launching Let’s Talk Science during a time of economic uncertainty in the early 1990s. What started as a small outreach project in London, Ontario, has now grown into a national organization with partnerships across over 55 institutions. As Let’s Talk Science celebrates its 30th anniversary, Schmidt reflects on the organization’s humble beginnings and its evolution into a driving force for STEM engagement and inclusion across Canada. Today, Let’s Talk Science reaches diverse communities, preparing youth for work and citizenship roles while tackling barriers to STEM opportunities. Schmidt’s commitment to engaging all young people through science continues to inspire, and her insights will undoubtedly enrich the STAO Ignites Conference this November.
