Larry Switzky, an associate professor at the University of Toronto Mississauga, teaches a gaming studies class where students share impactful gaming experiences. The field of game studies has grown significantly, exploring the role of play in human life and touching on various disciplines. UTM will offer a minor in game studies, driven by a large collection of games and gaming gear acquired from collector Syd Bolton. This collection provides a valuable resource for teaching and research. The program encourages students to think critically about games and their cultural significance, bridging the gap between older and modern gaming experiences.
