STAO’s Elementary Curriculum Committee has previously highlighted some great work and resources from Forests Ontario. In this blog, we share another project of theirs that is geared towards students in the intermediate and senior divisions.
This spring take virtual learning outdoors with the 2022 Ontario Envirothon – https://forestsontario.ca/en
Back for second year the virtual Ontario Envirothon program engages high-school students in learning about environmental science, natural systems and teamwork all while contributing to the community science platform iNaturalist. The more challenges a team completes the greater their chances of advancing to the provincial competition.
Registration fees are $150 (+tax) per team of 5 students. To register your team(s) click here. For a listing of important program dates see below.
Friday April 29th, 2022: iNaturalist Challenges end, proof of completion must be submitted to count towards weighted provincial draw
Friday May 6th, 2022 : Teams selected to advance to Provincial Competition
Monday May 16th, 2022 : Presentation Scenarios released online; teams will have 48 hours for presentation preparation
Wednesday May 18th, 2022: Presentation preparation ends, Live video presentations scheduled throughout the day, evening slots will be made available
Tuesday May 31st, 2022 : Ontario Envirothon Champions announced online
