Actua: Local Resources – Right at Your Fingertips!

Across Canada, a network of STEM advocates provide hands-on, interactive education enrichment experiences to Canadian youth. Actua, a national Canadian charity supports this network consisting of 33 network member organizations located at universities and colleges from Victoria to Iqaluit to Antigonish.

With a twenty year track record of success Actua and its network annually engage 225,000 youth in 500 communities nationwide. Programming is community-based and designed to break down barriers to youth engagement in STEM. Reaching out to teachers across Canada, this organization offers dynamic workshop opportunities specifically designed to enhance provincial school curriculum while engaging youth in a wide variety of STEM experiences.

At the 2014 STAO Conference Actua presented for the first time and we were so excited that the room was packed. It was a great experience to share our resources with teachers who were passionate about STEM. From squishy circuits, Rube Goldberg machines, and wind turbines, we have so many different ideas that we would love to share with you.
