The Coffer Illusion is a visual trick created by Stanford University psychologist Anthony Norcia. It features a pattern of black, white, and gray lines that appear to form rectangles. However, the true challenge lies in spotting the 16 hidden circles within the design. The difficulty arises because our brains are more accustomed to recognizing rectangles, which are more common in our environment. The illusion highlights how our perception can be deceived, demonstrating that we often overlook hidden elements due to the brain’s tendency to favor familiar shapes. The Coffer Illusion encourages us to look beyond the obvious and discover unexpected details.
