The webinar allows students, specifically those in the sciences, to identify how their skills and personal interests align with careers in sustainability, the environment, clean energy and other fields that directly help people and the planet. Webinars are one hour long, with time for Q&A. Topics covered include:

  • How science and technology can play a role in climate change mitigation.
  • What is a Green Collar Career and why are governments/companies investing in creating green jobs.
  • Green Career exploration activity that matches the students’ individual interests with relevant green jobs (this is an online quiz that students will complete during the workshop).
  • What are soft skills, why are they important, and how to network online and in-person.

Speaker bio:

Andrew Cahill is the Green Careers Officer at Relay Education. He coordinates the national Green Collar Careers Program and delivers workshops in high schools in the Greater Toronto Area. He holds a BSc. degree from the University of Waterloo, and possesses a desire to advance the understanding and adoption of renewable energy and to connect young people to green careers.
