Empowering Future Innovators: Join the 2025 Future City Experience!

Are you an educator for grades 6-8 looking to spark creativity, problem-solving, and innovation in your students? Engineers Canada and Engineers of Tomorrow have the perfect opportunity for you: the Future City Experience (FCE)! This hands-on, project-based initiative inspires students to think like engineers while addressing real-world challenges—and it’s completely free of charge!

This Year’s Challenge: Electrify Your Future

The 2025 Future City Experience challenges students to imagine and design a city powered entirely by sustainable electricity. They’ll explore the complexities of urban planning, environmental sustainability, and cutting-edge technology while prioritizing the health and safety of citizens and the environment.

New for 2025: Teachers now have the flexibility to choose between this year’s theme, Electrify Your Future, or one of the exciting challenges from previous years. This gives your class the option to dive into a new topic or revisit a theme that complements your existing curriculum.

Why Join the Future City Experience?

By participating, your students will:

  • Learn and apply the engineering design process to real-world challenges.
  • Tackle sustainability issues with innovative thinking.
  • Develop critical 21st-century skills, including teamwork, problem-solving, and creativity.

The program provides an interdisciplinary approach, merging STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) with imagination and practical application. It’s a perfect way to bring classroom lessons to life and inspire the next generation of problem-solvers.

What Makes FCE Special?

  1. Free & Accessible: There’s no cost to participate, making it easy for all schools to join.
  2. Flexible & Classroom-Friendly: The program integrates seamlessly into your schedule
  3. Engineer Mentorship: Your class will collaborate with volunteer engineers who act as mentors, offering guidance and role-modeling.
  4. Student Showcase: Students will present their innovative city models during a virtual showcase in May, receiving valuable feedback from engineering professionals.

Comprehensive Support for Educators

When you sign up, you’ll gain access to:

  • Mentorship from professional engineers.
  • An exciting opportunity for students to present their creative solutions at the Showcase event.
  • A chance to ignite passion for STEM, equipping students with skills for their future careers.

Make a Difference in Your Students’ Lives

The Future City Experience is more than a project—it’s a journey into the real-world applications of engineering and sustainability.
