A small asteroid, named 2024 PT5, will temporarily become a “mini-moon” by entering Earth’s orbit from September 29 to November 25, 2024. Discovered by NASA in August, this asteroid is about 10 meters long and won’t be visible to the naked eye due to its size. Although not a threat to Earth, its brief orbit provides astronomers an opportunity to study asteroids and enhance our understanding of space. Similar events occurred in 1981 and 2022.
