March Break Masterminds (Grades 1-12) – Royal City Science – submitted by Joanne O’Meara
The volunteer team at Royal City Science is putting together an event we’re calling March Break Masterminds for Grades 1 to 12 students. We will be running daily science-themed puzzles on our website at three levels of difficulty:
Apprentice (Grades 1 to 4)
Expert (Grades 5 to 8)
Mastermind (Grades 9 to 12)
The puzzles will cover a wide range of subjects (biological, environmental, physical, etc.) as well as a variety of types (crosswords, acrostics, matching, etc.). When participants have successfully completed all 5 puzzles (Monday to Friday) at their level of difficulty, they can email us all of the unlock codes revealed upon completion and enter in a draw. We’ll randomly select one participant at each level to receive a science workshop/hands-on session for their class with our team to be run in-person (outside) if permitted or online if not. We welcome participants from across the province, although the geographic location of the draw winners may also influence the choice between in-person or online class sessions.
